Once a year the good folks at Gasser Lounge and Ladyhump throw one of the best parties of the year. They invite 500 people to get together, bring their bikes/vans/vintage cars and party down in the hills near Santa Barbara. I made my way out there this year with a group of people that I have gotten to know over the last few months and whom I have the luxury to call great friends. After riding from all different parts of Southern California we met up in Santa Clarita and began the rest of our journey to HC3. The morning was cold but by the time we made it to the coast, Ventura welcomed us with perfect blue skies that made the waterfront look like everything you’d expect from a California postcard.
Once we rolled into Hazard we set up our tents near the rest of our chopper family and I got to work making my rounds about the camp shooting the bikes, saying hi to people and getting a lay of the land. Escape to Hazzard County is a place for people to get together, drink some beer, eat some food and let loose. Bikes and tents dot the landscape, and everywhere you look people are stumbling around with massive drunken grins. The entertainment is topnotch too! the hillbilly games were nothing short of hilarious, with hay bail races, keg tosses and a ‘cock fight’ (whoever steals the most rubber chickens from other opponents in the allotted time wins).
As the night fell upon the camp, the bands took the stage and the rest is honestly a very blurry blur. But I know I had fun at HC3, how could I not?
